      Greetings Calontir Dance Folk!

At last, the announcement you've been waiting for with baited breath (Well,
maybe not, but I imagine you're all glad to hear of this in any case). I have
finally compiled preliminary information on the Ball to be held in the evening
after Calontir Performing Arts Day in Couer d'Ennui on July 22nd 2000.
      Anything
and everything is subject to change between then and now, I'll send out final
information when I have it, but for now questions, comments and suggestions
      are
encouraged either on this list or privately.

      Set List:

      1st Set:
      Gatherine Peascods
      Gelosia
      Maltese Bransle
      Herald's in Love
Road to the Isles/Scotland the Brave
      Black Nag

      ==Special Performance==

      Second Set:
      Carolingian Pavane
      Rufty Tufty
      Hearts Ease
      Charlotte Bransle
Dolce Amoroso Fiamma (may switch to Villanella depending on what I teach)
      Korobushka

      ==Special Performance==

      Third Set:
      Petit Vriens
      Grimstock
      Black Alman
      Quen Quer Que
      Jenny Pluck Pears
      Rostiboli Gioioso

I chose these particular dances because they represent (in my mind) a mix of
standard and new dances, none of which are particularly challenging (ie if we
need to we can do review sessions before each dance), but which are fun. I
tried to alternate genres and speeds so that slow dances are followed by
      quicker
ones, and more obscure dances are followed by well known dances. Most of the
dances being taught during the day will be danced during the ball (everything
from my class, almost everything from Conrad's Intro to Ren. Dance
class--although I have omitted Ballo Del Fiore, Horse's Bransle and the
Galliards from this draft if anyone has a problem with those omissions let me
know). I also tried to select dances which are popular in the northern region
      especially.

      Music:
I'd LOVE to have live music if we can gather enough musicians. If anyone will
be coming and would like to play, please let me know asap and we can work out
details (Katriana, will you be there by chance???)

      Special Performances:
Tsire suggested that we might break the sets by doing special performances
inbetween. I think this is a great idea. They will be non-competative
      chances
for people to show dances to the rest of the kingdom. I would like to
      schedule
these in advance, so if anyone would like to perform, please let me know ASAP.

If there's enough interest we could have two dances per break.

      Other Details:
I hope to make up a cheat-sheet/dance card for distribution. We will have
various snacky things handled by the capable Moire of NoMountain.

I tried to pick reletively common (with one or two exceptions) dances. If
anyone needs instructions or music to practice with your dancers, let me know.

      See you the
