California High Speed Rail (San Francisco to Los Angeles)
Groundbreaking Ceremony was January 6, 2015 in Fresno. Sustained construction began in April for the first segment (29 miles), Avenue 17 in Madera County to East American Avenue in Fresno County. Concrete pouring on Fresno River Viaduct began June 26, 2015. 12 grade separations, 2 viaducts, 1 tunnel, 1 river crossing.
Viaduct: Raymond Road to Watson Street (Madera, over Fresno River, HWY 145) will take 9 to 12 months.
Construction of first segment must be completed and operational before federal grant money expires September 30, 2017.
The Fresno HSR station will be built at Mariposa Street, between Kern and Fresno St.
Bakersfield to Palmdale: To develop a solid construction plan crossing Tehachapi Mountains with bridges and tunnels to make route direct as possible. Two routes along Sierra Highway to Lancaster are being discussed.
Burbank to Palmdale route to be decided in 2017. Environmental Report to be done in late 2016.
$750 million so far from 25% annual Cap-and-Trade revenues from a gas tax to help accelerate construction.
Segments may open for ridership. This will generate revenue too.
One-seat ride Merced, Fresno, Bakersfield, Palmdale in 2023.
XpressWest - Might be back on track. Stay tuned.
Transbay Transit Center - Lower concourse concrete pour finished. Concrete on train box lid begins. Bus ramp construction continues. Structural steel assembly process to be completed in mid-2016. Completion of Phase One: Autumn 2017.
