California High Speed Rail (San Francisco to Los Angeles)
Groundbreaking Ceremony was January 6, 2015 in Fresno. Sustained construction began in April for the first segment (29 miles), Avenue 17 in Madera County to East American Avenue in Fresno County. Concrete pouring on Fresno River Viaduct began June 26, 2015. 12 grade separations, 2 viaducts, 1 tunnel, 1 river crossing.
Viaduct: Raymond Road to Watson Street (Madera, over Fresno River, Hwy 145) will take 9 to 12 months.
Construction of first segment must be completed and operational before federal grant money expires September 30, 2017.
The Fresno HSR station will be built at Mariposa Street, between Kern and Fresno St.
To Bakersfield to end in 2019.
Bakersfield to Palmdale: To develop a solid construction plan crossing Tehachapi Mountains with bridges and tunnels to make route direct as possible. 3 routes along Sierra Highway to Lancaster to Palmdale are being discussed.
Palmdale to Burbank route to be decided in 2017. Environmental Report to be finished in late 2016.
First passenger service: Merced, Fresno , Bakersfield, Palmdale, San Fernando Valley in 2022.
$750 million so far from 25% annual Cap-and-Trade revenues to help accelerate construction.
XpressWest - Could begin construction in late 2016, Victorville to Las Vegas.
Transbay Transit Center - Structural steel assembly continues to be completed in mid-2016. Also metal decking installation and concrete placement continues. Completion of Phase One: Autumn 2017.
