Group Description

This spring marked the 40th anniversary of the 1968 student protests at Columbia University. A group of alumni participants organized, with faculty and students, a conference in April that reexamined those events from a wide range of viewpoints. The program was quite successful as special kind of living history. People who lived through that period had a chance to reconnect, reconcile, and reflect. Current students also had a chance to discuss issues of war, race, and the role of the university.

This is an open site for discussion of issues raised by the conference, and anything else of that is relevant to those of us concerned with the history of the Columbia Strike.

An Archive of the Columbia 1968-08 conference is under construction and will be posted on the internet in July or August, 2008. News of the Archive site will be posted here.
