poetry contest for California residents
- The Alameda County Fair seeks entries for its annual poetry contest. The contest is open to California residents, ages 18 and over, who are able to hand-deliver their work to the Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA.
We seek framed poems which will hang alongside fine art and photography in a 600+ piece outdoor juried show.
Creativity in presentation is encouraged, though not required, and can include graphics as well as text (broadside-style).
Cash prizes are available:
$100 Best in Show
$25 Silver (6 awards available)
$50 Fair Theme Award (it is optional to choose to write on the Fair Theme; see guidelines link below)
Honorable Mention and Public Favorite awards also exist (recognition only).
You may also choose to make your poem available for sale at the Fair; you determine the price.
Judges for the contest are Robin Ekiss and Judy Halebsky.
Online entry fee is $7.00 per poem. Six poems maximum per entrant.
Enter online by May 22nd, 2013.
