      We seek a dynamic faculty colleague to lead the development of our newly approved fully online MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing. The director will also teach innovative and skills-based courses in Writing and Literature. The position offers the unique opportunity to build and direct a new and completely online Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction Writing at Bay Path College. In addition to overseeing the MFA (50% position responsibility), the successful candidate will teach courses in the undergraduate program including courses in English Composition and topical courses in Writing and Literature. The director will teach the equivalent of six (6) courses (18 credits) annually across both the undergraduate and graduate levels with the specific load to be determined in consultation with the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

      Bay Path College is an institution that places the utmost importance on the faculty's ability to teach and relate to all students, whether in undergraduate or graduate programs. The importance of teaching at the graduate level equals the importance at the undergraduate level. At the same time, Bay Path College has a valuable history in online learning and a well-developed and robust process for preparing and supporting faculty and students in online courses. The successful candidate for this position will have a demonstrated enthusiasm for new modes of learning that are delivered in highly flexible ways infusing cutting edge technology and e-resources. Extensive experience with online teaching and learning is a must.

      The Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction Writing exists within the Bay Path College of Arts and Sciences, and as such, contributes to the overall graduate academic commitment to a sound and exciting Liberal Arts education. The successful candidate will report to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
      Oversee all administrative aspects of the program, including programmatic strategic planning and budget management.
      Oversee programmatic curriculum development, course scheduling, as well as faculty hiring and professional development.
      Teach up to six courses annually.
      Engage in fundraising processes on behalf of the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction Writing program including collaboration on grants, meeting with potential donors, and networking with community partners.
      Advise all students in the MFA program.
      Lead the development of an internationally based advisory board to support the development and oversight of the MFA program.
      Maintain scheduled on campus office hours according to College policy.
      Attend faculty, department and college meetings.
      Play a lead role in marketing and student recruitment for the program including participating in virtual and other admissions Open Houses, calling and writing prospective students and other activities as requested.
      Maintain an active presence on the campus including attendance at major College events (e.g. Commencement, Academic Convocation) and student events.
      Participate in college committees as assigned.
      Stay current with best practices in teaching and learning.
      Develop and manage an annual program-specific assessment plan.
      Understand the role of assessment in achieving specifically stated learning outcomes.
      Incorporate technology to enhance student learning.
      Understand and appreciate the College's mission, purpose and goals and the role of faculty in achieving those goals

      QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
      Ideal candidate will hold a terminal degree in the field (MFA, Ph.D.) and will have experience in both teaching and administration at the college level.
      Knowledge of online instruction, online curricular development, and online faculty professional development is essential.
      The candidate should possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, strong computer technical skills, and be able to work both independently and as an integral member of a growing and academically significant program.
