      Job Summary: Provide overall management and accountability for the delivery of the College's Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing. This is a 12-month, 35-hour a week administrative position that includes a non-compensated teaching load of nine credits per academic year. The Director is appointed annually by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs upon the recommendation of the Dean for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies.

      Duties & Responsibilities:
      Provide leadership and coordination for all instructional aspects of the graduate degree program in Creative Writing.
      Teach nine credit hours per academic year--one three-credit course in the fall, spring, and/or summer sessions.
      Collaborate with faculty and the Dean in the development of courses and academic requirements.
      Establish, review, modify and oversee the implementation of policies and procedures in the Part-time Faculty Handbook and Student Handbook.
      Create and work with an Advisory Committee of area professional writers to assess and improve the graduate degree program in Creative Writing.
      Collaborate with the Dean for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies in the development of marketing and recruiting initiatives.
      Collaborate with the Dean for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies in the development of co-curricular activities that support the mission of the College and provide growth opportunities for students, faculty, staff and the community.
      Work with other offices of the College as appropriate to enhance the graduate degree program in Creative Writing and its students.
      Sit on appropriate College governing bodies.
      Attend seminars, forums, lectures, open houses, information sessions and other events that contribute to the growth and vitality of the graduate degree program in Creative Writing and its students.
      Support the recruitment and enrollment function for the graduate degree program in Creative Writing.
      In consultation with the Dean for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Studies prepare course schedules and assign faculty according to the College calendar.
      In collaboration with the Dean for Graduate and Professional Studies recruit faculty.
      Conduct assessment of adjunct faculty that provides a mechanism for professional development.
      Conduct course and programmatic assessment that provides a mechanism for improving student learning and support services where appropriate.
      Assist in the preparation of all programmatic collateral material and website information on a regular basis.
      Perform other duties as assigned.
      Minimum Qualifications:
      Master's degree (doctoral preferred) from a regionally accredited college or university.
      At least three years of experience in teaching and/or administering higher education or professional education programs.
      Experience with adult learners.
      Demonstrated increasing responsibilities within an educational setting.
      Experience with marketing educational services.
      Demonstrated experience with personal computer, data, document, and academic records management.
      Sustained current publishing industry experience.
      Preferred Qualifications:
      Good writing skills for higher education communications.
      Excellent oral communication skills; ability to comfortably speak to large groups.
      Ability to assist in the development of an educational program marketing plan.
      In depth understanding of adult learning theory.
      Sensitivity to the needs of the adult learner returning to college.
      Strong organizational skills.
      Excellent time management skills; self-starter; ability to carry out daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.
      Ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals from other units within the College.
      Ability to work on project and program management teams.
      Excellent customer service aptitude.
      Accepts the need for ongoing program evaluation and continuous quality improvements.
      Approaches work form a problem solving mode.
      Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
      Available to work flexible hours.
