- Western Humanities Review 18th Annual Utah Writers' Contest
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
eligibility ::: any writer who currently resides in Utah
Western Humanities Review (WHR), a triannual literary magazine published by the University of Utah, is calling for entries to its eighteenth annual competition for Utah writers. Prizes are awarded in poetry and prose. Each winner will receive $500 and publication in the Winter 2010 issue of WHR. The entry fee is $10 and includes an annual subscription to WHR.
Submissions must be postmarked by Wednesday, October 20th, 2010.
Poetry submissions should not exceed 10 pages or 5 poems. Prose submissions may be fiction or nonfiction and should not exceed 25 pages in length. Writers must be living in Utah at the time of the competition, and the material submitted must be previously unpublished. Previous winners of the competition may not re-enter in the category for which they won. Past judges have included Brenda Shaughnessy, Kate Bernheimer, Edward Hirsch, Allison Hagy, Stuart Dybek, Scott Cairns, Brian Evenson, Ben Marcus, Marie Ponsot, Timothy Donnelly, and David Shields.

The writer’s name, address and phone number should appear ON THE COVER SHEET ONLY. An SASE should be included for notification of contest results. Manuscripts will not be returned.
