      Categories:
      1. Article -- Any Form
      2. Short Story -- Any Genre
      3. Nostalgia/Reminiscence
      4. Humor Any Subject
      5. Essay Or Opinion Piece

      Poetry Limit One Single-Spaced Page
      Categories:
      1. Rhyming -- Any Subject
      2. Comic Verse -- Any Form
      3. Free Verse -- Any Subject
      4. Haiku Traditional (5-7-5, Nature Theme)

      Guidelines For Entries:
      1. All entries must be the original, unpublished work of the contestant.
      2. Do not enter the same prose or poetry in more than one category.
      3. All manuscripts must be typed on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper in standard
      manuscript
      form. Double space prose and single space poetry. Except for Haiku, all
      entries must have a title.
      4. Place the category name and number, plus the number of words for
      prose, in the upper left corner of each entry. List the poetry form where
      applicable.
      5. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THE ENTRY. Include a cover sheet
      for each entry. On the coversheet, place the category name and number,
      title, the first line of the manuscript or poem, and your name, address,
      phone number and e-mail address.
      6. Keep all originals; no copies will be returned. No entries/winners will
      be published.
      7. Winners will be announced and awards given at the regular October,
      2007 Springfield Writers' Guild meeting or mailed to those unable to attend.
      8. Deadline: All entries must be postmarked no later than October 1, 2007.
      Springfield Writers' Guild is not responsible for lost, misdirected, or
      postage-
      due entries.
      9. For a list of winners, please include a SASE with your entry.
      10. No limit on entries per category. However, no entrant may win more than
      one award per category entered, regardless of the number of entries.

        JIM STONE GRAND PRIZE MEMORIAL AWARDS

        Awards: 1st Place - $100, 2nd Place - $50, 3rd place - $25, one Honorable Mention, plus Certificates
        (Fee: $3.00 per entry)
        NOTE: 1st place winners in 2011 may not enter the same category in 2012.
        There is no limit to the number of entries as long as the $3.00 fee is paid for each submission.
        Only one award will be given per person in the same category in the Jim Stone Division.


        PROSE POETRY
        Limit: 1,000 words, double spaced Limit: 1 page, single spaced
        #4 Fiction, any genre # 8 Any Specific Form, any subject
        #5 Non-Fiction, any subject # 9 Humorous, any form
        #6 Humorous #10 Free Verse, any subject
        #7 SWG Members Only: any genre, any subject #11 Shakespearean Sonnet, any subject


        Awards: 1st place - $25, 2nd place - $15, 3rd place - $10, one Honorable Mention, plus Certificates
        (Fee: $2.00 per entry)
        NOTE: There is no limit to the number of entries as long as the $2.00 fee is paid for each submission.
        It IS possible to win more than one award per person in the same category in these Prose and Poetry Divisions.





        ENTRY GUIDELINES
        1. All entries must be the original, unpublished (including hard copy and on-line) work of the contestant. Do not enter


        the same prose or poetry in more than one category.
        2. All manuscripts must be typed on 8 1/2 x11" paper in standard manuscript form. Prose must be double spaced and
        poetry single spaced. All entries must have a title (except haiku, which is always untitled).
        3. Place the category number and name, prose word count or poetry form in the upper left corner of each entry.
        Number prose pages.
        4. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THE ENTRY. Include one typed cover sheet with your name, address, phone
        number and email address, and list ALL entries by category number, name, title and first line.
        5. Keep all originals; no copies will be returned. No entries will be published.
        6. Winners will be announced and awards given at the October 27, 2012, regular SWG meeting or mailed to
        those unable to attend.
        7. DEADLINE: All entries must be postmarked no later than September 30, 2012. SWG is not responsible for
        late, lost, misdirected or postage-due entries.
        8. For a list of winners, include a SASE with your entry. The list will also be posted on the SWG website.
        9. Any entry that does not follow these guidelines will be disqualified without reimbursement.
