Winter Witch Books: Winter Tales Competition: Short Stories and Poems
      www.winterwitch.co.uk

This is a chance for unpublished writers and poets to be included in a
new anthology, due out in 2008. Coming under the broad mantle of
Winter, entries can be as diverse and original as their creators. All
we ask is that you have not had the poem or story published before, and
that poems should be no longer than 100 lines, stories no more than
7000 words. Both of these limits are deliberately longer than normal as
the anthology will have a storytelling atmosphere, reminiscent of
sitting round the fire, sharing tales and good company.

As well as being published in the anthology, winners will receive prize
monies (detailed below) and excerpts of their work will be available
for public viewing on the website.

      Prizes

An overall winner will receive GBP100.00, 4 runners up will each
receive GBP25.00 each. Winners will be selected from either category of
short story or poem, and will be chosen on merit, not dependent on
whether they have entered a poem or short story.

      Guidelines

All work must be original and unpublished.

The maximum length of your story should be no more than 7000 words.

The maximum length of your poem should be no more than 100 lines.

Closing date is 31st January, 2008. Winners will be announced 31st
      March, 2008.

The entry fee is GBP3.00 per story or poem. You may enter in either or
both categories. If paying by cheque, please contact us for payment
details. Entries may be sent in the body of an email, to
office(at)winterwitch.co.uk (replace (at) with @) or by post. Please
confirm you have paid the entry fee by PayPal or that payment is on its
      way.

If entering by post, please send your entry to Winter Witch Books, 3
Stoneybeck Cottages, Broughton Cross, Cockermouth, Cumbria. CA13 0TX.
