Northwestern University invites applications for its Simon Blattner Visiting Assistant Professorship in fiction. The selected candidate will teach one course in advanced fiction writing & one course in literary studies, & will give a public reading or talk during spring quarter 2010 (approximately April 1 through June 10).  Preference will be given to emerging writers who have published one book of fiction.  The sponsor of this annual teaching residency is especially interested in bringing women & minority writers to campus. Stipend is very competitive (housing & travel funds are not separately provided). Please send 1) a cover letter that specifies your experience teaching both fiction writing & literature courses, 2) course plans for sample courses in each, 3) a c.v. with references, & 4) a writing sample of 20 manuscript pages, in hard copy or via e-mail <jbritton(at)northwestern.edu>, by December 15 to: Mary Kinzie, Director of Creative Writing, Department of English, Northwestern University, 1897 Sheridan Road, UH 215, Evanston, Illinois 60208-2240.
