      The Rules

      1. Poems must be your original, unpublished work. None may be a prior cash winner in any contest.

      2. You may enter one poem in each category, with no duplication; a different poem in each.

      3. Type or computer-generate poems on 20 weight, 8½ x 11 white paper; 10 or 12 pitch, no fancy fonts, one side only. If a second page is required, staple the pages together. Do not use paperclips or bindings.

      4. Copies: Send two copies of each poem. On the 1st, type category, name, address, phone, and email in the upper right corner. On the second, type category only. For Dueling Judges category include three copies, one with category and identification, two with category only.

      5. New Poets category: On the copy with your name, type and sign this statement: "I have never won a cash prize for a poem.” (This applies to all contests, not just those sponsored by OSPA.)

      6. Members Only category: Free to members; check the date on the mailing label to make certain your dues are current.

      7. Members of OSPA pay $1 per poem, $2 for Dueling Judges and Members Only free.

      8. Non-members pay $4 per poem, $8 for Dueling Judges. If you join at the time you enter, you are eligible for Members rates, see #7. (Dues must be mailed separately; see below.)

      9. Mail all entries in one envelope with proper postage. Please, no registered or certified mail. Keep copies; entries will not be returned. Please submit in a #10 business size envelope. For acknowledgment that your entry arrived, provide a note and e-mail address or self-addressed postcard with correct postage.

      10. To receive a list of winners, enclose a #10 self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) or provide an e-mail address for notification.

      11. Postmarked deadline: September 5, 2008

      12. Winners will be notified prior to the Fall Conferences in October. Those unable to attend will receive prizes by mail.

      OSPA reserves the first right to publish prize-winning poems in the Verseweavers anthology. All other rights automatically revert to the poet.

                  The Rules



                  Poems must be your original, unpublished work. None may be a prior cash
                  winner in any contest.
                  You may enter one poem in each category, with no duplication; a
                  different poem in each.
                  Simultaneous submissions are acceptable; please note that entry fees
                  are non-refundable, and the OSPA is to be notified as soon as possible
                  if your poem is accepted elsewhere. OSPA has first publication rights.
                  Type or computer-generate poems on copier weight, 8½ x 11 white paper;
                  10 or 12 font size, no fancy fonts, black ink only, single-sided only
                  with no photos or decorations. If a second page is required, staple the
                  pages together. Do not use paperclips or bindings.
                  Copies: Send two copies of each poem.
                  On the 1st copy, in the upper right corner, type:
                  category, line count, name, address, phone number, and email.
                  On the 2nd copy, in the upper right corner, type:
                  category and line count only.

                  New Poets category send two copies
                  One copy with category, identification, line count and,
                  i.
                  type and sign this statement:
                  “I have never won a cash prize for a poem.”
                  (This applies to all contests, not just those sponsored by OSPA.)

                  One copies with category and line count only.
                  Members Only category: Check the date on the mailing label to make
                  certain your dues are current.


                  Members of OSPA pay a flat rate submission fee of $5 per contest.
                  Non-members pay $4 per poem.
                  If you join at the time you enter, you are eligible for Members rates,
                  see #8.
                  (Dues must be mailed separately; see below.)
                  10. Mail all entries in one envelope with proper postage. Please, no
                  registered or certified mail. Keep copies; entries will not be returned.

                  If possible submit in a #10 business size envelope, save a tree!
                  If you’d like acknowledgment that your entry arrived provide a note and
                  an e-mail address or self-addressed postcard with proper postage.
                  11. To receive a list of winners, enclose a #10 self-addressed,
                  stamped envelope (SASE) or provide an e-mail address for notification.

                  12. Postmarked deadline: March 01, 2011.

                  13. Winners will be notified prior to the Fall Conferences in October.
                  Those unable to attend will receive prizes by mail. First, Second and
                  Third Place Winning Poems may be published in Verseweavers, the Oregon
                  State Poetry Association’s anthology. Honorable Mentions will be
                  awarded by certificates as merited. All rights revert to author.
