- Assistant Professor of Creative Writing
Position - a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Creative Writing starting Fall 2008.
The College - Eureka is a small residential liberal arts college located equidistant between the cities of Peoria and Bloomington/Normal. The campus is situated on 112 wooded acres with 24 academic and residential buildings in the city of Eureka, Illinois. Focused on "excellence in learning, service, and leadership," Eureka graduates include forty-two college presidents, seven governors and members of Congress, and the 40th President of the United States. Eureka currently has almost 700 students enrolled in 30 degree programs and has over 5,000 living alumni. The College is cited as one of fifty national "All-American Colleges" by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. Position Requirements - Eureka College invites applicants for Assistant Professor of Creative Writing with primary teaching responsibilities in fiction, creative non-fiction, and composition. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: rhetoric, technical writing, and American literature. Terminal degree in creative writing, MFA or PhD, required. 4/4 teaching load. Supervision of the Eureka Literary Magazine may also be included in the responsibilities.
Eureka College values excellent teaching at the college level that employs a variety of methods to enable all learners in the classroom. The small college reality requires professors who can be interdisciplinary and generalist in approach while still engaged in their specific discipline.
