      Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Lecturer in English/Creative Writing. Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applications from fiction writers &/or poets for a multi-year lecturer position in Creative Writing, beginning August, 2008. Candidates should be able to teach writing courses in fiction or poetry in our BFA program, as well as other courses in English & literature. The position requires publications in fiction or poetry & excellence in teaching, as well as involvement in college & departmental service. Course load: 4 classes per semester. The initial contract is for 3 years, with renewal depending upon performance, need, & budgetary considerations. Minimum requirements: MFA (or MA) in Creative Writing, plus college or university teaching experience. One of the few such programs in the country, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing at Penn State Behrend is an intensive & exhaustive course of study in the fine art of writing. The curriculum includes basic craft courses in poetry, fiction, & literary nonfiction, & a series of graduated genre workshops that provide intensive & personal attention to the student’s own writing.
