Stories are judged by the editorial staff of Lunch Hour Stories magazine. Winning stories are selected solely on the basis of literary excellence and reader appeal, and not on the reputation of the author and/or their publishing history. NEW WRITERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ENTER! Any and all persons associated with Lunch Hour Book Publications and/or Lunch Hour Stories magazine, and their family members, are ineligible.
The editors of Lunch Hour Stories magazine reserve the right to publish ONLY stories deemed suitable for publication. In the case that NO stories are deemed suitable for publication and NO prizes are awarded, all reading fees will be refunded.
Due to the large number of expected entries, the editors will not be able to provide personal feedback or critique on contest entries. Thank you for your understanding.
If you do not have an opportunity to submit your story for our annual contest, do not dismay! Not all of our stories are chosen from our contest entries. Lunch Hour Stories gladly accepts general story submissions throughout the year; however, the deadline for publication in any calendar year is June 30 of the previous year. There is no reading fee required for general story submissions.
