Group Description

In 1971, Intel introduced the 4-bit 4004 microprocessor. This processor is now regarded as the first single-chip microprocessor. It had 16 (solid gold!) pins, 2250 transistors and ran at 1.08 Mhz!!

In 2013, we have Intel's 62-Core Xeon Phi with about 5 billion transistors-- a truly remarkable feat of engineering.

This group is for those who want to collect and share information on CPUs.

Feel free to share any information on CPUs: historical, pictures of early and current CPUs, collections of CPUs for sale, and other interesting CPU information.
