Folks, sorry for sending this twice, but I'm hearing that the info didn't come through intact, so I'm trying again.

Folks, please see the below press release regarding Neuter Scooter for a Nickel.  While this certainly isn't San Antonio's first Neuter Scooter event, this is a landmark year:  ACS will be providing neuter surgeries at the 210 Tuleta facility for the first time ever.  There are 13 agencies doing surgeries this year.   - see below for the list.  Many thanks to them, and to SNAP for organizing the event.
Please spread the word among your coworkers, friends, and neighbors.  If you're interested in volunteering, please reply to this email and I'll get your contact info to the right people.
      Thanks -
      Laura McK

“Neuter Scooter for a Nickel” Promotion Saves Lives – Tuesday, February 27, 2007

Spay Day USA in San Antonio
In an aggressive effort to curb animal overpopulation, the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, Inc., is hosting "Neuter Scooter for a Nickel," an annual campaign in association with Spay Day USA that invites cat guardians to get their male cats fixed for life--for just FIVE CENTS.   This is the 10th year SNAP has organized the local event.
SNAP and other participating veterinary clinics are supporting the national Spay Day USA campaign created to increase awareness about the tragedy of dog and cat overpopulation by recognizing the only viable solution to the problem is spaying and neutering dogs and cats.  Spaying and neutering results in the prevention of millions of unwanted births. Neutering male cats also reduces a cat's chances of developing testicular cancer, diminishes roaming tendencies, and decreases the urge to mark territory by spraying. If left intact, one male cat can sire an unlimited number of litters in his lifetime.
While “Neuter Scooter for a Nickel” focuses attention on neutering male cats, unaltered male cats are only part of the national dog and cat overpopulation problem.  By performing high-quality sterilization surgeries, SNAP helps prevent unwanted animals from being born.
