Subject: [Ybfmembers] Last Bat Tour of the Season and Fall Yolo WildlifeArea Tour

Last Bat Tour of the Season on September 7th

Yolo Basin Foundation’s last bat program and tour will take place on Wednesday, September 7th.  The program with Dharma Webber and her live bats starts at the Yolo Wildlife Area Headquarters at 5:45 pm and will be followed by a trip to the Wildlife Area to watch the bats fly out from under the Causeway.  Each of the bat programs over the summer has been filled to capacity with numerous people turned away.  Please come early (around 5 pm), if you want to be assured of getting a seat.  If you just want to go the Wildlife Area to see the fly-out, please be in the parking lot at the Headquarters by 6:30pm.  You must caravan with the group since the tour will go to a section of the Wildlife Area not normally open to the public.

Tour of the Yolo Wildlife Area on September 10th

Visit the Yolo Wildlife Area for a late summer morning tour with the Yolo Basin Foundation on Saturday, September 10th, 8 to 11 am.  Mary Schiedt, Yolo Audubon Society volunteer and Yolo Wildlife Area Department of Fish and Game employee will be the trip leader.  She has intimate knowledge of the Wildlife Area and has a wealth of information regarding natural history and management practices.  Field trip participants will have the opportunity to drive past the newly reconfigured wetlands and into an area full of shorebirds and waterfowl.  They will also take a short stroll along established wetlands.  All interested participants will meet at Parking Lot A (the first parking lot) in the Yolo Wildlife Area at 8 am on the 10th

For more information on either of these trips, please contact Corky Quirk at 530-758-1018 or cquirk@....
