Re: Woodland Hills Joann in liquidation - many fabrics 75% off
- I haven't been to Baron's Fabrics in Woodland Hills in awhile, and it appears they did close recently. It appears the only fabric store in or near Woodland Hills that will be fully stocked during Costume College is Quilt Emporium 4918 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Woodland Hills, CA 91364 - 818--704-8238. Someone already mentioned this store on the newsgroup, and it would be a great place to visit even if just to see the "fabrics from the 1800s, 1930's and 1940's."
Sorry for the mis-information about Baron's.

The new Joann superstore will be opening on August 30 just a few stores over, but for now, Joann on the south side of Victory Blvd. just west of Fallbrook is liquidating its stock. This means you can't just pop in for something specific and expect to find it, but all patterns they have left are $1.99 each, red tag fabrics are 50% off and many, many fabrics are 75% off.
This store is only a couple of miles from the Costume College convention hotel. If you want pins, needles or a particular type and color of thread, you are probably more likely to find them at Baron's Fabrics on Ventura Boulevard, or even Michael's crafts just north of Joann on Fallbrook. But if you enjoy the thrill of the chase or want black silk dupioni, etc., you might want to plan a safari to Joann.
