Re: [CGWcostumers] A memorial for Kathy Lear to take place at Faire
- Hi, Colleen,
I'd like to go but I'm in hair, makeup, wardrobe and rehearsals for the Writers/Illustrators of the Future Awards Event [I'm a presenter] that afternoon in preparation for the presentation that evening.
I doubt if anyone will ask, but if they do, feel free to tell them.
Thanks for letting me know.

Subject: [CGWcostumers] A memorial for Kathy Lear to take place at Faire
Kathy Lear's friends are invited to gather in her memory at the Southern California Renaissance Faire,15501 E. Arrow Highway,Irwindale, CA on Sunday, May 15 · 11:30am - 12:30pm, inside the Friends of Faire area.
If you wish to attend the memorial, and you are not already at the Faire, please contact Linda Sutherland (LFS@...) to get you Gate Listed (if you have proper attire) or Comp Tickets. This event is organized by Bret Culpepper & Nancy Moran-Culpepper. Facebook event page
How to find the memorial:
Once you go through the Pass House you'll go through the large Participant Gate directly opposite it & bang you'll see the FoF area located on your left side. If you go through Will Call w/ Comp Tickets, you'll either follow the Map which shows you where the FoF area is or ask directions to the FoF area.

- Melinda,So awesome to hear from youI went to the griffin Dye Works workshop last year and had a great time. But I'm really looking for an association of artists as opposed to classes. Also, I should probably mention that I am not a historical dyer--that is to say, I mainly use modern artificial dyes.I will go to the next Griffin event I can find though and see if they know of any guildsThanks!!

Hi Dani! You might be interested in the Griffin Dyeworks Fiber Retreat. It is run by John and Bjo Trimble. This year it is June 24-26. It is a weekend of fibery fun at a Boyscout camp, with dye pots simmering all weekend. Yahoo group: FiberRetreat@yahoogroups.com. If you sign up for the yahoogroup, there are announcements of occasional dye-days (one was scheduled for last Sunday, in fact, though cancelled due to rain). I went for the last couple years, but this year I'm going to Costume College a bit later in the summer, instead. There is also email@example.com, which is affiliated with the SCA. There are also some spinning and weaving groups (non-SCA), but Griffin Dyeworks is the only dyers group I'm aware of around here.View Retreat photos at: http://gallery.griffindyeworks.com/main.phpMelindaOn Apr 28, 2011, at 11:01 PM, Dani Crum wrote:
I have been practicing shibori and other dye and fiber arts for a few years and am looking for an LA or south bay based fiber arts or dyers guild / club to join. Does anyone know of such a beast?
