Okay, a bit off topic... sort of.  I'm looking into shipping some dinnerware from the UK to the USA, weighing about 10-kg or 22-lbs.  In terms of weight, fragility, and packing, probably not much different than shipping an equivalent-weight electronic device.  FedEx wants £50  (~$77 and change) to ship the £50 dinner set.  Is there anyone out there in the group that has shipped electronics gear and can suggest a more cost-effective alternative?  Thanks!
      Ken,

Depending on how well you know the recipient, you can work out a deal with Emory Air Freight. You have to take the package to the closest serviced airport, and you recipient has to pick it up at the serviced destination airport, but the price is right. Check it out.

Friend of mine ships motorcycle parts and one of his customers in Australia has a friend.
The freight charges from common carriers are piracy.
