      The guy there is really good at helping you out with getting the equipment
      together too, if you need it. He knows what's compatible with what, that
      sort of thing. The stuff is sometimes a little expensive for hobbyists, but
      it's guaranteed and a real good alternative for buying it new if you really
      need it to work or can't find it elsewhere.

      Also, you health physics types probably already get this, but an interesting
      list server for Geiger-heads might be the one at

      It's a lot of technical stuff and job openings, but there's some real
      interesting stuff buried down in it once in a while- good conversation
      topics for this list... If you try it, definitely subscribe to the Digest
      first since it's really active and will inundate you with 20-30 messages a
      day with the regular list.
