Re: [CANLIST] CANopen transitions from PRE_OP to OP state.

The only ways described in the spec is NMT start and slave autostart, but masters have the option to be started by the local application, and I don't think

Re: [CANLIST] CANopen transitions from PRE_OP to OP state.

Hello John, There is no set of options for waiting for heartbeat of another device and perform autostart based on it through object dictionary in general.

Re: [CANLIST] CANopen transitions from PRE_OP to OP state.

Thanks. I don’t have any problem with the node autostarting or going operational if it sees the system master 0x701 heartbeat as operational. But for some

Re: [CANLIST] CANopen transitions from PRE_OP to OP state.

Hello John There is a spec for autostarting slaves. If bit 4 in object 0x1F80 is 1 and all other bits are zero in a slave it is autostart and should go

[CANLIST] CANopen transitions from PRE_OP to OP state.

Hi everyone, I have a question for CANopen conformance experts. Is a node allowed to go NMT_OPERATIONAL on receipt of the system master's heartbeat that shows

Re: [CANLIST] CAN Bus Standard Vulnerability

Hello, What is often forgotten, is that CAN is "Controller Area Network", which typically mean: - It's physical coverage is constrained - It's functional

Hi Bram, My reason for assuming is that the team demonstrated the vulnerability on at least one car. (Think their device should be used as a must pass test for

Hi Freddy, Why would you assume that automotive controller units don't have such a "safe critical mode"? I'm pretty confident that the great majority (if not

Hi Freddy, You are so right! Protocol is everything. The authors didn't even mention the flaw in the CAN protocol that requires toggle messages to not be used

Re: [CANLIST] CAN Bus Standard Vulnerability

Hi John, This just  shows how sloppy the automotive industry is. When I designed can systems, the system node generated an alert state if there were more that

Fully agree with John. One or two years ago, we had a same kind of discussion on the LinkedIn group. I think we can be short about it. If a hack on the CANbus
