  • I think the question is (at least in my mind) can a map be created illustrating where the lines would be to the nearest point of land between county jurisdictions? Jamie M. • Monte, I've looked for years and have never seen such a map. I would (almost) pay money for such a reference. Unless I'm mistaken the ABA doesn't recognize county lines. Only offshore distances to the 200 mile limit and/or half the distance to a neighboring area or jurisdiction. To complicate matters the discussion of offshore "county lines" in CA should take into account this rule...

  • Here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/groups/rarebirdsofca/ Many months ago I set up two Flickr photo pools in my area that have proven to be great resources for photographic documentation of rare birds - one each for San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County. Over the many months these pools have been active members have contributed dozens of rare bird images which can be...

  • Joel, Not all group list owners/moderators are able to see the new " neo " format (yours truly) so some of us, perhaps a minority, can't even make a change to what others are seeing. I don't mean to bore people with the trivial, but some members of the large EmailList -Managers group have commented that this works by redirecting some Yahoo users by your Yahoo ID to the neo format...

  • It's personal choice. Many people do count introduces species. Some do not. -- Jamie Chavez Santa Maria, CA On Wed, Sep 4, 2013 at 9:53 AM, Lori Conrad < lconrad@^$1 > wrote: Hi, Please correct me if I'm wrong, but even though it's been added to the state list, I believe that the code "I" still means that it's an introduced species and therefore still not "countable" on your...

  • Coincidentally, I posted to the Santa Barbara list Saturday regarding Bell's and Sagebrush Sparrows and linked to a series of photos of a bird I photographed in 2006 on the central coast which may have been nevadensis. I would welcome comments from those in the know. Apologies beforehand if the links in my sbcobirding post aren't instantaneously functional but you can copy and...

  • A plug must go to Christopher Taylor for his "Recent Rare Bird Sightings" tool that combines listserve reports as well as eBird entries. This includes a search function so you can locate every Falcated Duck post (or whatever you're looking for) in one fell swoop whenever it had been posted in any county, state or within the ABA area. While Sialia.com is great for archiving all the...
