Falcated duck 1/31/12
- The Falcated Duck at Colusa NWR was not seen early Tuesday, but appeared around the small green island in front of the viewing platform about 11:15 AM and was mostly in view for about an hour before heading behind a large bank of reeds to the west. The viewing area was also graced with hundreds of Greater White-Fronted Geese and Snow Geese, plus several Eurasian Wigeon and Cackling Geese. A tour of the refuge yielded about 50 species with no particular effort (another person reported 59) on a lovely day in the valley.
