Mountain Plover sightings
- This year Audubon CA and Natural History Museum of Los Angeles worked with USFWS on a second year, but smaller, survey of Mountain Plovers in California. We chose to just focus only on the main areas were plovers are regularly spotted - Carrizo, Panoche, Antelope, and Imperial valleys. The survey was this past weekend and these areas were well covered by volunteers - numbers at least for Panoche, Antelope, and Carrizo appear to be low.
If anyone has any reports of plovers outside of these areas, we'd love to hear from you with flock number and specific location - please send me an email to ajones@...<mailto:ajones@...> and/or post your results on www.ebird.org/california. Thanks!
