Lesser Sand-Plover: Still there at 7 AM
- Greetings Everyone,
The lesser sand-plover was still present and easy to see this morning
between 6:15-7:00 AM at Harriett Wieder Park in Huntington Beach. It
moved around by up to roughly 200 yards, more or less parallel to the
edge of the wetland. When I left just after 7 AM, it was over to the
east, so at that time the best view would have been from the northwest
edge of the lawn in the part of Harriett Wieder Park with the parking
lot and playground (i.e., NOT from the dirt path with the tall weeds a
short distance to the west).
Also, if you use eBird to see where people have been reporting the bird,
note that many of the markers people have used are in the main part of
Bolsa Chica roughly a mile farther to the northwest than where the bird
is regularly being seen.
