Native Red Fox-SacAudubon-Thursday 4/21, 7PM
- Please join us for this fascinating program on the newly discovered California Native Red Fox.
Until 4 years ago it was widely thought that the red fox in the lowlands of California were not native but introduced from the eastern US and Alaska. Ben Sacks, Adjunct Prof at UC Davis in the Veterinary Genetics Lab and Director of the Canid Diversity Conservation Group showed through DNA studies confirmed that this was true. However, to the surprise of many they also showed that there is a native lowland red fox that still exists today.
The Sacramento Audubon Programs are held at the Shepard Garden and Arts Center 3330 McKinley Blvd. Sacramento (34st and Park St). There is ample street parking.
