Plumas Co. Great-tailed Grackle
Sierra Valley was birdy & windy & cool today Fri June 11. There was a male Great-tailed Grackle at Historic Marble Lane Bridge (Dyson Lane approx 1 mile west of road A24/Dyson Lane). The bridge is over the easternmost of two wetland complexes (per DeLorme) that lie between A23 and A24 on Marble Hot Springs /Dyson Ln. It should be noted that the west end of Dyson Lane (per DeLorme) is signed as Marble Hot Springs [Rd]
Sorry for the seemingly redundant directions, but a study of DeLorme will confirm that Plumas road engineers play by their own rules.
Grack was 250' south-southeast of bridge. Difficult to see as it foraged in grass at
the edge of yellow and purple wildlflowers.
We didn't encounter Black Tern or Franklin's Gull, but the usual suspects were present (sorry, hard to type on this &*%%# laptop).
