Wed, 26 Aug, 2009 -- This morning 4 HUDSONIAN GODWITS were
discovered at Glass Beach in Fort Bragg (MEN).  The four birds
(3 imm. and 1 poss. adult) were found by Dorothy Tobkin.  The
birds were quite tame, and allowed people to approach them
easily within 5 or 6 feet. Photos: Mendobirds@yahoogroups.com

The birds were flushed  by a rogue wave at approx. 2-pm.  They
circled the cove and flew north toward Pudding Creek mouth and
Virgin Creek mouth.  At least 3 excellent birders have tried to
re-locate the HUGOs.  No word has been received at this time.

These Hudsonian Godwits are the 1st MEN County record.

      For Dorothy Tobkin,
