Sandwich Tern in San Diego
- The bird, an adult in alternate plumage, is sitting on the mud flats in the middle of the river.
It is across from the fenced tennis courts, a bit east of the buildings.
This is about 400 yards east of the baseball field where the snow bunting was last week.
Thanks to Curtis for reporting it so promptly, and to Trent for picking it out during our 957th scan of the tern flock resting on the mud flats.
