Birding Skills Workshop to be offered by Sea & Sage Audubon
- Sea & Sage Audubon is offering two different Birding Skills Workshops
The first one, which will be taught by Bill Clark, will focus on RAPTOR
ID. Bill has over 30 years of experience working with birds of prey and
has published on a variety of raptor subjects as well as co-authoring
the Peterson field guide on HAWKS and the PHOTOGRAPHIC GUIDE TO NORTH
AMERICAN RAPTORS. His Introductory Raptor ID Workshop will be held Feb.
13-15 and his Intermediate/Advanced Raptor ID Workshop will be Feb. 21 &
22. Both workshops include indoor lectures as well as field trips.
The second workshop, which will be taught by Sylvia Gallagher, will be
on LEARNING MORE CA BIRD SOUNDS. Sylvia has been teaching a variety of
birding classes here in Orange County for over 25 years. Her popular
classes are full of information about CA birds and their habitats and
each lesson is carefully prepared. The 7 CDs containing bird songs &
calls to be used by students in this class were recorded by Sylvia on
some of her trips and are of excellent quality. The birds to be covered
in this 8-10 week workshop are waterfowl, rails, herons & egrets,
swallows, shorebirds, plus a wide variety of hard-to-see and/or rare
passerines of riparian and open habitats. These workshops will begin
the week of Feb. 16th.
Full information on these Birding Skills Workshops can be found on the
Sea & Sage Audubon webpage at: www.seaandsageaudubon.org . Advanced
reservations are necessary since seating space is limited, but space is
still available as of Feb. 5th in each of the workshops, which will be
held in Huntington Beach.
