This has been posted on the Eastern Sierra list-serve, but Jon Dunn also
thought it should go statewide.
Jon found a Black Rosy-Finch, presumably a male, in with about 100+
Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches (>50% littoralis, or "Hepburn's") south of
Bridgeport, Mono Co., early this afternoon (17 December). It was along
Highway 395 about 3.6 mi. south of the Hwy 182 junction, in a natural
quarry area on the east side of highway.
Obviously any "chasers" should be aware of icy road conditions in that
part of the state and travel with appropriate caution.
