      You are cordially invited to the MONTEREY BAY BIRDING FESTIVAL, which
      begins on Friday, September 26 and runs through Sunday, September
      28th. Sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Conference & Visitors
      Council, this year's festival will be headquartered in the brand new
      Civic Plaza in downtown Watsonville, a state of the art facility with
      a six story, free parking garage for festival folks. All events,
      including evening socials, exhibitors, book signing, and the keynote
      presentation will take place in the Civic Plaza. For immediate

      register on line for any of 70 activities on offer! Following is a
      brief outline of the schedule.

      FRIDAY NIGHT FEATURED PRESENTOR: JOHN MOIR, author of, "RETURN OF THE
      CONDORS" will present a slide show and sign copies of his award-
      winning book.
      KEYNOTE SPEAKER: JON DUNN, Saturday, September 27th. Jon, known and
      loved by many birders across North America, will present, "Warblers
      of North America."
      BOOK SIGNING: JON DUNN, JOHN MOIR, BURT GUTTMAN, TODD NEWBERRY at the
      Saturday social hour. Meet the authors & get your books autographed!

      WORKSHOPS:
      A series of HONING YOUR BIRDING SKILLS WORKSHOPS WILL BE PRESENTED!
      INTRODUCTION TO BIRDING OPTICS by BEN LIZDAS
      LARGE SHOREBIRDS by JON DUNN
      SMALL SHOREBIRDS by JON DUNN
      FINDING YOUR WINGS by BURT GUTTMAN
      SEABIRDS OF THE PACIFIC by JIM DANZENBAKER
      BEST BIRDING IN NORTH AMERICA by STEPHEN INGRAHAM

      FIELD TRIPS:
      Field trips to any number of places and habitats are on offer,
      including kayaking, vagrant chasing, Pinnacles National Monument,
      Watsonville Sloughs, UCSC Arboretum, Elkhorn Slough, Pinto Lake, and
      more. (Sorry, some trips are sold out) Pelagic trips with Shearwater
      Journeys are on offer for Sep 27 & 28 with spaces still available.
      Sep 26 is sold out. Sorry. (Sep 25 is available).

      EXHIBITORS:
      New this year! We will have a wide range of exhibitors at the Civic
      Plaza. This is your chance to test out some new optics, in the hand!
      Learn about birding tours, and more! Check it out!

      FAMILY DAYS:
      The City of Watsonville invites families with children to take part
      in the festival at the Watsonville Nature Center. Free, bilingual
      birdwatching events along city trails are on offer.
