Whether you're a beginner or an experienced birder, you'll discover new places and new birds at the fourth annual Monterey Bay Birding Festival in the Pajaro Valley (Watsonville) and Monterey Bay region.
Jon Dunn, chief consultant/editor for five editions of the National Geographic Society's "Field Guide to the Birds of North America", will be Saturday's keynote speaker. Award-winning science writer John Moir will tell the riveting story of the California's condor's dramatic rescue from the brink of extinction at the Friday evening reception. Also featured will be Debi Shearwater pelagic trips, kayaking, vendors, workshops, social events and Family Days at the City of Watsonville's Wetlands Nature Center.
Registration begins June 15 and you can register online at www.montereybaybirding.org. Registration fee of $20 per person, and activities cost $5 to $115.
Space is limited to 20 per field trip and the popular activities fill up fast. The Watsonville Civic Plaza will be the festival's headquarters.
