Monterey Seabirds last and next weekend
- Trip reports for the Aug. 11 & 12 Monterey Seabirds trips with photos
are now up on the website. http://www.montereyseabirds.com
Highlight was a single adult HORNED PUFFIN. We enjoyed a nice cross
section of the expected species.
We have two more trips coming up. On Aug. 25 we have a 12 hour offshore
albacore grounds trip. Some interesting fish have been caught offshore
the last few weeks by the tuna fisherman. Yellowtail and Dorado are both
warm water fish and were a bit of a surprise around here. The same could
be true for birds as our skipper Richard Ternullo has speculated. These
offshore trips are best for Long-tailed Jaeger, Arctic and Common Terns
and both Xantus's and Craveri's Murrelets and Fin Whales. Cost is $125
The Sunday Aug. 26 is an 8 hour sea canyon trip and there are only a few
spaces left. $85 per person.
Leaders for next weekend include Don Roberson, author of Monterey Birds,
former director of the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History Steve
Bailey and California Bird Records Committee Chairman Dan Singer.
