      Hi, all!

For those of you keeping year lists for California, the THICK-BILLED
KINGBIRD is still hanging around in the big eucs behind Hernadez' Hideaway near Lake
Hodges--he was flycatching and being very conspicuous, but not vocal

It was incredibly birdy up there this morning: the egrets just love the
construction work going on beneath the I-15, apparently, as there were tons of
'em hanging around, along with lots of White Pelicans. Actually heard a
Yellow-breasted Chat in the willows, and saw my first Ash-throated Flycatcher of
the season (along with a buzzing Lincoln's Sparrow, interestingly). I hadn't
been up there since the lake filled up, so it was really something to see!

Nothing out of the ordinary at Bernardo Bay except lots of Clark's and
Western Grebes and their babies (all ages, as I think someone previous reported,
including cute little fuzz balls on the backs of the parents), and along the
Piedra Pintados Trail from Duenda Drive was serenaded by a Mockingbird; a
Rufous-crowned Sparrow called from the hillside and almost immediately the Mocker
      answered him!
