My apologies for crowding your inboxes with another shameless advertisement, but the LA Audubon pelagic trip from Santa Barbara to the San Juan Seamount and continental shelf on April 22 is still in need of participants. So, if you were thinking about signing up, but haven't yet, now's the time.
This trip is the only single-day opportunity to get out to the continental shelf off Southern California in spring - at the prime time for Murphy's Petrel which has been seen over the target waters two of the last three years.
The LA Audubon contact information, the official trip description, and my original advertisement are included below. Millie Newton at Audubon House will be by the phone today noon - 4pm at 323-876-0202 to answer any reservation questions.

Please feel free to forward this message to anyone who might be interested.

The LA Audubon-sponsored pelagic trip to the continental shelf southwest of Pt Conception on April 22 is in danger of being cancelled if more people do not sign up right away. This trip is a great opportunity to search for deepwater pelagic species on a fast boat, the Condor Express. The region around the San Juan Seamount that will be covered has produced Murphy's Petrel sightings in late April in two out of the past three years - this bird will be a particular target. Albatrosses, both Laysan and Black-footed, are regular in these waters at this time of year and Leach's Storm-Petrel is also likely.
The Condor Express, a 75 ft catamaran that leaves out of Santa Barbara is particularly suited to this trip as its speed and stability will allow us to get quickly and comfortably to the areas of interest and permit us to pursue some of the quick-moving seabirds.

Please see below for the formal trip description and registration information.

      Hope to see you aboard,
