      Steve,
I tried sending the following message to CALBIRDS@yahoogroups.com
(I'm not a member of the group) about a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper in
Lassen County, but I'm not sure if it worked. I figured since you're
the admin, you could probably stick it up there. I'm on 14.4 dialup,
so it's excruciating to try to do anything online. Pretty sure it's
an odd record for this time of year & in Lassen County.

      Cheers,
      Dan Barton

      Dear California Birders,
I'd like to report a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper in Lassen County,
probably a pretty strange record (although I'm not thoroughly
familiar with spring records for this species.) It was seen today at
1800 at the Dakin Unit of Honey Lake State Wildlife Area (where I'm
living), out in the ponds to the west of the last parking lot (in the
general vicinity of the gull/Caspian Tern colony.) Cody Martz and
Branden Wilson, also PRBO'ers, were present, and Id'd the bird as a
      Sharp-tailed as well. Brief notes:

Size > LESA and > WIPH and < AMAV (direct comparisons)
No distinct demarkation between a pattern upper breast and clear belly
      Pale, 'scungy' upper breast
      Scalloped nape
      Short, thin slightly droop-tipped bill

I'm not on the CALBIRDS list, so if you have any questions, email me
off-list. I can provide a complete description later for CBRC, if
      desired.
Also, enjoy the Black Terns and other stuff out there - a nice place.

      Cheers,
      Dan Barton
