      Birders:

Sorry if this is of more local than statewide interest, but my posting to
LACoBirds did not go through -- an increasingly common occurrence given all
the spam and viruses going around.

      Anyway.......

Mike San Miguel and Curtis Marantz just called to say that they were
looking at an alternate adult Glossy Ibis at Piute Ponds on the Edwards Air
Force Base n. of Lancaster; this is the first record for Los Angeles County.

The bird is with 10-12 White-faced Ibis on the more northerly of the two
Ducks Unlimited ("South") Ponds. Mike and Curtis had seen it a bit
earlier, then it flew off toward the main pond with a couple of
White-faced, only to return to the original spot. Mike has obtained
digital photos and will post a more complete message (here and/or on the
      Bird Box) later.

Remember, YOU MUST HAVE A WRITTEN LETTER OF PERMISSION from the Edwards Air
Force Base to enter the Piute Ponds area; do not even think about chasing
this ibis unless your party has such a permission letter in hand valid on
      the date of your visit.

Also of note was a Semipalmated Sandpiper at the "G Spot" (the shallow pond
just east of the 14 Freeway between Ave. G and Ave. H).
