I purchased SOUTHERN OREGON'S BIRD LIFE by John Kemper (Outdoor Press,
Medford, OR. 2003). The area covered by this book includes a portions of
northeastern California in northern Siskiyou and Modoc Counties. The
species accounts lists all species reported in the area covered, including
vagrants to the area. The species accounts include a handful of records of
"CBRC review species" in California. At least two of the listed records are
not endorsed by the CBRC. Those records are as follows:

Yellow-billed Loon Tule Lake NWR Feb 2000 (CBRC Record
      2000-057)
White-rumped Sandpiper Tule Lake NWR Jul 1989 (CBRC Record 2002-113)

However, other records listed are endorsed by the CBRC, including that
of a Garganey at Lower Klamath NWR in Apr 1982 (CBRC Record 1983-076), a
Curlew Sandpiper at Tule Lake NWR in Aug 2000 (CBRC Record 2001-139), a
Little Gull at Lower Klamath NWR in Jun 1998 (CBRC Record 1998-140) and a
Scissor-tailed Flycatcher at Butte Valley Wildlife Area in Jun 1984 (CBRC
Record 1985-121). Unfortunately, at best the author gives only the month
and year for those records listed, and provides no references, so the
      "records" have little scientific value.
