      CalBirders -

Here is a link to a Quicktime file (2.5MB) of the Cory's Shearwater
seen on a Shearwater Journey's trip to Cordell Bank on August 9.

It's a long download for marginal results. With QT you can hit the
space bar to stop playback and then use your cursor keys to study
frame by frame. This is especially helpful when the bird takes
      flight.

This was a noticably larger bird than surrounding Pink-footed
Shearwaters. It had a light colored bill (pink or yellow, depending
on your eyesight!). The bird lifted its wings once that I saw (didn't
get a picture) and the underwings were outlined with a sharp black
outline. There was no duskiness or intrustions on the underwing like
in Pink-footed. The axillaries were white. It's flight was more
lumbering and slower than surrounding Pink-footeds. When sitting on
the water, facing away, it was the only shearwater with white
      undertail coverts.

      Hope this is useful,
