      Dear Friends,

Thought you might find this synopsis, relating to this years bumper crop
of mosquitos with the Virus transmission at high levels, helpful :
      (8/11 Time mag.)

      1. Products with 35% Deet work best. (kids 10%)

      2. Applying deet & sunscreen together may increase absorption of deet
with side effects ranging from rashes to blood pressure changes! Apply
eiher one, waiting a half hour before applying other. (Study by Univ.
      of Manitoba, Canada)

      3. Soybean oil based products may be used in lieu of deet, tho has
shorter effective period, so apply oftener. (Study in New England
      Journal of Medicine)

      4. For yard/patio:

      a. Sandalwood Mosquito Sticks work like giant incense sticks smoldering
      3-4 hours. (from New Mountain)

      b. Carbon dioxide traps like Mosquito Magnet emit a plume of carbon
dioxide, heat, moisture & octenol. "They do a great job of capturing
mosquitoes, but there's a chance they could work too well & attract more
mosquitoes than usual, some of which might bite you enroute to the trap."

Have a carefree summer, Cheers, Wanda
