The Emperor Goose at Moonglow Dairy in Monterey County was still
present this morning. It was on the backside of pond 1 (the westernmost
pond) on the levee associating with a large flock of Coots. As Don
pointed out high tide is best and they are very high tomorrow- a 5.9 at
10:35 am. Conditions should be favorable a couple of hours on either
side of that time.
Enter the driveway to Moonglow off Dolan Rd off Route 1. Continue
straight ahead and park to the right of the residences. Walk left in
front of and past the houses until you come to a feed trough. Turn
right and proceed until you meet another trough and turn left. Parallel
this second trough and you will see a large white cinderblock planter
painted white with a large mallow plant growing in it. Before you come
to the planter there is an old farming implement on the edge of the
hill. This is a good overlook to scope pond 1 and will keep you out of
the really deep mud that as Don pointed out makes driving the roads at
the dairy impossible.
