      Posting for Ed Pandolfino:

Today a VEERY (possibly returning for a second year?) was found by Mark Kudrav at the SFSU--Sierra Nevada Field Campus in Sierra Co.  Ed Pandolfino  was able to obtain a recording.

For those of you who go, please park before the bridge and to NOT DISTURB THE FOLKS who are camping there.

Directions:  From Hwy 49 at Bassett's Station, go east on Hwy 49 towards Yuba Pass  about 1 mile, and park in the SFSU parking lot adjacent to the highway.  Last year the Veery was between the parking lot and the bridge over the river, in  the alder/cottonwoods on the downstream side of the road.

I'm sure other folks will be updating the exact location. Last year many of us spent lots of time listening to its very distinctive call and chasing that bird up and down the area. If its like last year it tends to be most vocal in the morning and late afternoon.

      Good luck!
      Frances for Ed Pandolfino.
