      Gaurd unit at Fort Irwin in San Bernadino Co. Highlights included:

      Barstow: Prairie falcons (2)

      Fort Irwin:

      lesser nighthawk
      mocking bird
      2 or more Say's phoebe
      house wren
      black phoebe
      verdin (a life bird for me!)

      Ft. Irwin water treatment pond:

      5 white faced ibis'
      3+ black terns
      double crested cormorant

      nesting eared grebes, ruddy ducks, bl. wing teal,
      American avocets, black-necked stilts

      26+ wilson's phalaropes
      cliff and barn swallows
      ring billed gull

      Yermo:
      western kingbird
      brewer's blackbird
      willow flycatcher

      Other critters of note:

      badger (chasing a raven that got too close to his den in Ontario near
      airport)
      plenty of giant hairy scorpions
      windscorpion (cool!)
      w. diamondback
      prairie dogs
