Craveri's Murrelets, Red-billed Tropicbird, off San Diego Aug. 25, 2013
- Six more Craveri's Murrelets were found, and photo'd in San Diego waters yesterday. 6 additional murrelets sp.(all in pairs), were seen and not positively I.D'd. Sunday.
Two Craveri's Murrelets were seen and photographed on Aug 18th. 8 more murrelets sp.(again all in pairs), were seen in rather tough veiwing conditions.
Safe to say we have a small number of Craveri's Murrelets in a limited area about 14 to 25 miles offshore of La Jolla/Pacific Beach.
Another inshore Red-billed Tropicbird was seen yesterday about 14 miles west of the trip of Point Loma. One was also seen on the 18th about 6 miles to the s.w. of that location.
Buller's Shearwaters- 3-4 seen yesterday on the 30 Mile Bank
Sabine's Gull- 1 adult over the San Diego Trough.
Those interested in seeing Craveri's Murrelets or R.-b.Tropicbirds should act as things tend to move quickly offshore.
