On Sunday, 18 August, Povey, Carlson, Sadowski, and Lehman got offshore
from San Diego to the 9-Mile and 30-Mile Banks, in moderate seas. A more
complete report and photos of some highlights will be posted in the near
future by Povey and Sadowski, but in the meantime here are the more
      interesting finds:

CRAVERI'S MURRELET: pair next to the boat ca. 25 miles west of La Jolla.
We also, frustratingly, saw EIGHT additional "murrrelet sp's" flying away
from us at various times out on the 30-Mile Bank which could have been more
Craveri's, or Guadalupes, or Scripps's (which are rare this time of year)

RED-BILLED TROPICBIRD: adult sitting on water very close to the boat just
north of the U.S./Mexico border, between the 30-Mile and 9-Mile Banks

BROWN BOOBY: at least 2 birds (1 near-ad., 1 imm.) at the southern 9-Mile
      Bank

Leach's Storm-Petrel: total of 25 birds of varying rump colors was a very
good count for San Diego County waters (almost all were on or near the
      30-Mile Bank)

Ashy Storm-Petrel: total of ca. 5 birds

      Sabine's Gull: 1
