On the morning of May 31st, Paul Lehman, while on a cruise ship from San Francisco to SE Alaska, passed through the waters of northern Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. The ship was well offshore (well beyond the shell edge) between 50-80 miles out where there is not a large diversity of species. By far the dominant species is Leach's Storm-Petrel.
Highlights were one Murphy's Petrel and one Laysan Albatross in no. Humboldt County and another Laysan Albatross in Del Norte County.
Later that day, he saw seven (7) Murphy's Petrel in Oregon waters, many with close views. He has continued into SE Alaska waters from there.
