News from the CBRC
The California Bird Records Committee has accepted the record of a juvenile Gray Hawk (Buteo plagiatus) from Carpinteria, Santa Barbara Co. 25 November 2012 to 15 March 2013. This adds a new species to the California State list, which now stands at 652. Gray Hawk is placed on the main list between Broad-winged Hawk and Swainson's Hawk, given a "P" code (photographs, no specimen) and is also added to the CBRC Review List.
CBRC Chair Joe Morlan has also posted the minutes of the January 2013 CBRC meeting on the web site, and with the help of Jim Tietz has updated the searchable on-line CBRC database through 31 March 2013 and the tabular updates to the CBRC "Rare Birds of California" book through 5 April.
