Group Description

The Chinese American Environmental Professionals Association (CAEPA), founded in August 1988 in Oakland, California, is a nonprofit organization comprising professionals, educators, and others who are concerned about improving the environment.
CAEPA's goals are as follows:
1. To promote fellowship and professional interaction among members.
2. To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and knowledge on environmental management and pollution-control issues.
3. To provide technical and scientific support to environmental efforts in Pacific Rim countries.
4. To engage in other activities, such as promoting and providing environmental education to the Chinese American community.

The benefits of joining the CAEPA include the following:
1. Network with environmental professionals in the industry.
2. Participate in current workshops on the issues you care about.
3. Meet international colleagues.
4. Gain insight on varying environmental demands and issues.
5. Learn about cutting-eduge environmental technologies.

CAEPA activities include the following:
1. Seminars and workshops.

3. Annual membership meetings.
4. Visitor exchanges with Pacific Rim countries.
5. Sponsor or co-sponsor environmental conferences with other organizations.
6. Resource referral for the United States and other Pacific Rim countries.

Past seminars have included the Three Gorges Dam Project in China, perchlorate contamination and remediation, hydrodynamics modeling of San Francisco Bay Area, high-rate clarification technologies for drinking-water treatment, and others.

We welcome new members from all backgrounds and disciplines in the environmental field. CAEPA recognizes that diverse perspectives and expertise will enhance our discussion of complex environmental issues.
